LADIES: HOW MUCH RAPE JUICE HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING?

The SMART program also has a brochure for men that implores them to make sure to ask ARE YOU SURE before having sex, but that doesn't erase the fact that the campaign assumes that

1. only women are rape victims

2. only men are rapists

3. rape victims who drink too much are at least a teeny bit responsible for what happens to them and

4. a bunch of other problems that I'm too exhausted to go into here for now.

FLEX MMA PRESENTS:

DECEMBER 20th 2023

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs

STREETS OF NAIROBI

INSECURITY

It is heading to 12am and a man is heading home from work. He is carrying bag in his left hand. He is moving at a slow pace, probably because the bag is heavy. He has just alighted from the bus and the road is sparingly lit. He keeps to the middle of the road. Motor bikes with boda boda operators move past him with glaring headlights breaking the otherwise dead night silence. His large frame is masked by his dark jacket. He is roughly forty five years of age, six feet tall and about a hundred kilogrammes.

Fifty meters from the bus stage, a five foot five inch teenager trails him secretly. The teenager‘s unkempt hair is protruding from the baseball cap he is wearing and he has a knife in his hand. He is increasing his pace as he closes in on the burly looking middle aged man. Ahead of them, about twenty metres on the right side of the road, two young adults in their early twenties slowly walk across the road chatting. They are in hooded jumpers and seem casual with no clear cut agenda in mind.

As the burly man approaches them, he feels that something about these two is not right. He tries to move towards the left but these two move fast enough to get in front of him. He is tense and suddenly stops. They are now walking straight towards him. He quickly turns around and the knife wielding teenager is just five metres ahead. A quick glance at the teenager tells him that he has a shiny object in his hand. His breath soars as he tries to imagine that he is about to be mugged. The teenager is quickly closing in and he quickly looks above his shoulder. The other two are also rushing in though the teenager is closer. He shifts the bag to his right hand then left then right again. The teenager blurts out something as if to ask for his wallet but he is calculating. He jumps and kicks the teenager on the ribs and the knife falls off the teenager’s right hand. He turns around as the teenager screams in excruciating pain. One of the two young adults takes off as he raises his hand to punch the other one who also takes to his heels. He quickly turns, still drunk with adrenaline and heads back to the bus stage to board a motor bike to take him home.

What chance do you have to survive a street attack today? Did the burly man survive because he had a large physique? Or did the three young men have a miscalculation? Maybe! What do you learn from the above incident? It is a true story. The writer is the Head Instructor at African Mixed Martial Arts.
